Service You Can Trust...
In addition to providing first line response in our
primary coverage areas which included all of Polk
County,GA and areas of Floyd County, GA. Redmond
EMS also responds to any area of Floyd Co. when we
are requested or for back-up coverage for Floyd EMS,
Chattooga County EMS and Cherokee EMS, AL.
Speedway, Atlanta Steeplechase and other school and
community functions.
Redmond also provides non-emergency transportation (NET) during normal business hours: 8:00 am
- 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Many people need to go to doctor's appointments or for testing
and do not require an ambulance but are unable to go in a car. This service provides transportation
in a specially equipped van. These trips are generally scheduled ahead of time by calling
706-295-2000. We ask that these appointments be made at least 24hrs in advance.
Redmond EMS currently employs 41 paramedics,19 EMT's,2 Cardiac Techs,4 dispatchers and 3
office personnel. What is the difference? An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is partnered with a
paramedic at Redmond EMS. The EMT operates the emergency vehicle, starts IV's, administers
oxygen and assists the paramedic in assessing and evaluating the patient. Paramedics begin as
EMTs and then receive advanced training and certification that allows them to perform procedures
such as defibrillating patients when the heart stops, establish an airway and assist with patient's
breathing, and administer medications for a variety of problems ranging from an asthma attack to a
cardiac arrest. These are general responsibilities and each of these professionals is an integral part
of the emergency care team.
Recently, Redmond Ems has began operating a 12hr. truck in Cartersville, GA. It is primarily used to
run inter facility transfers out of Cartersville Medical Center to numerous different hospitals around
Northwest GA and in the Atlanta area. Cartersville is a sister hospital to Redmond Regional.
Regardless of where you are when you have an emergency, it is always best to call 9-1-1 and request
an ambulance. The ambulances are an extension of the emergency department and the patient's
care begins when the EMT and Paramedic arrive at your location. They are in contact with the
Emergency Department physician concerning care needs. This prevents care being delayed by
driving to the hospital in a car.
